The Wildcard

Noord-Holland Open

Do you have a tool, service or maybe something else that doesn’t match with any of the described challenges but that nevertheless could be of great value to the Provincie Noord-Holland?

Don’t hesitate to apply! Just like last year, we are open to your ideas this year as well.

Citizen Participation

Noord-Holland Open

Citizens are increasingly active in their communities. They generate solutions to problems that persist in their own area, and come to government with their own ideas, for which they request support for the implementation stage. The Provincie Noord-Holland would like to make use more of this ‘wisdom of the crowd’.

Energy transition

Noord-Holland Open

Provincie Noord-Holland is looking for the best ways to support the energy transition to renewable energy sources. We’re looking for ways to accelerate solar panel placements on roofs and/or other areas as well as ways to match the supply and demand of power in the new reality of fluctuating supply and demand due to weather conditions.

Another opportunity we want to explore is if we can use our current road and waterways as energy sources.

Effective Learning

Noord-Holland Open

Provincie Noord-Holland is noticing an increased need for digtal support in their work and learning processes for their staff. Currently we mainly use a quilt of solutions as well as the intranet for this. We’ve considered to acquire a learning management system, but the current solutions we’ve explored seem to be bad fit for our organization.

Processing seaweed at scale

Noord-Holland Open

We’re looking for startups who can (perhaps with other partners) process seaweed at a certain scale.

The province of Noord-Holland is initiating a Startup in Residence program. Startups are invited to collaborate with the Province during a 4 month support program to work on innovative solutions in the region.

Specific sponsors have issued challenges for which they make a budget available of 5.000 to 10.000 euro. We match those challenges with possible solutions of startups in any form, such as a pilot project, proof-of-concept or launching customer trajectories.

If solutions have gained concrete traction during the course of the program, the province intends to maintain a sustainable relationship with the startup for further impact. This could come in the form of the Provincie taking on the role of customer, providing access to resources, expertise, or the province helping to secure onward funding.
