The Province of Fryslân owns around 220 kilometers of banks and quays along important waterways. These banks are protected against erosion or slumping, for example by sheet pile constructions (wood or steel), ripraps or natural banks.
These banks need to be inspected periodically. Currently, these inspections are a labour intensive process. They require deployment of (inspection)ships and it’s also done by people, meaning there is a risk of different interpretations of the overall condition of the bank in terms of maintenance and safety, which reduces the quality of the inspections.
The question/challenge for startups:
Develop a solution that contributes to shore inspections that is cheaper and/or leads to a more unambiguous way of inspecting.
