There are many bridges, viaducts and locks in the province of Overijssel. These are what we call infrastructural constructions. Such constructions are regularly checked by inspectors for safety.
The provincial authority regularly checks the quality of bathing water. Too regularly, such checks result in a warning that bathing water is ‘unsafe’, when later it becomes clear that the water was, in fact, safe.
The site of the former Twente Airbase has been repurposed and is now a natural area also used for recreational purposes. On part of this site, nuisance is currently being caused by youths loitering, people tearing around in cars, and vandalism in shelters and bunkers. People are also visiting some areas at times when this is prohibited.

The number of accidents involving bicycles and e-bikes is on the increase. From a distance, electrically powered bikes and speed pedelecs look like normal bicycles, but they go considerably faster. This leads to hazardous situations.
