Challenge: Smart sustainability monitor in the contract phase of procurement
Optimal Planet was founded in 2008 as a Radboud University spin off company. The university is still an important customer and also a partner in IT-development.
Our aim is to make procurement the engine for Sustainable Development by enabling the people who operate this engine to steer in the right direction at every turn. We provide the people in the public sector who have influence on how money is spent with the knowledge to deploy the right criteria and measurement methods. We also provide a software tool that makes this feasible and attractive.
Optimal Planet makes sustainability and circularity concrete and measurable by translating frameworks and goals into criteria and KPIs. These are implemented in a user-friendly online software system. The system, Optimal Scans, enables tailor-made assessment and monitoring of organizations, products, projects and services.
Our software has been used since 2016, by various organizations such as the municipalities of The Hague and Arnhem, the Radboud University and Radboudumc. In the coming years we want to scale up to have more impact on the transition towards sustainability. Monitoring contracts is crucial for this ambition, and we are thrilled to support the municipality of Amsterdam with contract management.
