Startup in Residence is an innovative collaboration between the City of Amsterdam and startups. The programme invites Dutch and international startups to devise innovative solutions to social issues. The third Startup in Residence Programme will run from December 2017 until May 2018, with a final event in May. After the first pilot programme in 2015, the City has decided to run the programme again in 2016. Based on the successes from the first two programmes we will start with a third programme in December 2017.

In the programme the startups are offered an intensive training programme, as well as the support of professional coaches or mentors. The startups will also be provided with working space and have access to the municipality’s network.

If solutions prove successful, the City will invest in them as an investor or launching customer and thereby significantly kick-start the startup’s career. The City seeks to work with (starting) businesses in a transparent manner to translate good ideas into solutions to social issues.

An initiative of StartupAmsterdam & CTO

Startup in Residence is an initiative of StartupAmsterdam and the Chief Technology Office (CTO) of the City of Amsterdam, modelled on a similar programme in San Francisco.
