Startup in Residence is an innovative collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and startups. The programme invites Dutch and international startups to devise innovative solutions to solve issues. After a successful second “Startup in Residence”programme in Amsterdam they will start with a third edition in December 2017. The Ministry of Defence and the City of Amsterdam are combining efforts in this edition, which will be the first for the Ministry of Defence.
Applications open soon
The Startup in Residence Programme will run from December 2017 until May 2018, with a final event in May. After the first pilot programme in 2015, the City of Amsterdam has decided to run the programme again in 2016. Based on the successes from the first two programmes they will start with a third programme in December 2017. The Ministry of Defence (in this case the Royal Netherlands Airforce) wanted to join efforts and also join this edition. The Ministry of Defence has own issues and a separate tender procedure, but meetings and timelines are equal to the City of Amsterdam.
In the programme the startups are offered an intensive training programme, as well as the support of professional coaches or mentors. The startups will also be provided with working space and have access to our network.
If solutions prove successful, the Ministry of Defence will invest in them as an investor or launching customer and thereby significantly kick-start the startup’s career. The Ministry of Defence seeks to work with (starting) businesses in a transparent manner to translate good ideas into solutions to social issues.
